To examine how much weight can be safely carried in a boat
based on the density of the water.
To observe
the relationship between salinity, water temperature, and
the Plimsoll lines on the ship do the following:

The safe
water line is a line on the side of a ship that shows the
water level that the loaded ship can safely ride out storms
without sinking. It started being used on older wooden sailing
ships but is also used on steel ships. There are several lines
on the sides. They show the safe water line for many kinds
of water ranging from fresh tropical water to winter sea water.
The density of water changes with temperature and salt content
(salinity). A given weight ship will sit lower in less dense
warm tropical freshwater than it will in the more dense winter
seawater.
